5 to Revive is a 5K fundraiser that will benefit Soldiers of Hope, a local overdose awareness group
dedicated to combating the devastating consequences of drug overdose in our community. Funds raised through the $25 Entry Fee will be used to purchase Narcan, a life-saving medication used to reverse opioid overdoses.5K Fundraiser is open to all community members of any age. Leashed pets, strollers, and wheelchairs are welcome. Please bring your children and pets and join us in raising money for a good cause that will save lives in our community. Bibs will be provided and times will be tracked for those who are interested in racing, though walkers are welcome to come out and enjoy the track around the beautiful Snake River Greenbelt. The 5K will begin at the shelter at Civitan Park and loop around the Greenbelt, ending at the Veterans War Memorial. Water, snacks, and perk bags will be provided. Various agencies offering recovery resources will have booths for anyone seeking support and information, including Center for Hope, Brickhouse Recovery, RHS, and the new youth crisis center (Rise Up). Eastern Idaho Public Health will offer information about fentanyl and the opioid crisis, as well as hosting a rapid testing tent for those interested in HIV, Hep C, and Syphilis testing.
In the past, Soldiers of Hope acquired Narcan at no cost through the Department of Health and
Welfare (DHW). Narcan funding/distribution through DHW has since changed due to legislation passed earlier this year. DHW can no longer directly distribute Narcan to community organizations. As they make this change, they have temporarily paused Narcan distribution to first responders. Funds raised through the 5K event will enable Soldiers of Hope to continue distributing Narcan throughout our community in an effort to save lives and raise awareness about the opioid crisis. This fundraiser aims to have a significant impact on individuals at risk of opioid overdose, their families, and the wider community. Through education, distribution, and collaboration, Soldiers of Hope strives to create a safer and more
compassionate environment for those struggling with addiction. The main objective of the 5K is to enable Soldiers of Hope to continue providing Narcan to those in need in order to save lives from drug overdose. By purchasing and distributing Narcan through a third party distributor, individuals at risk of opioid overdose will again have access to this critical medication. This will help to mitigate the potentially fatal consequences of overdoses and provide a second chance for individuals to seek the necessary support and treatment.Soldiers of Hope aims to contribute to a decrease in overdose-related deaths within the community. Join us for the 5K and help Soldiers of Hope extend their reach and make a measurable impact on reducing
overdose fatalities.Follow the link to register for the event:
